"American Idol" winner Scotty McCreery had a good first week on the Hot 100 Billboards music chart and music downloads, with the release of his single "I Love You This Big" hitting the No. 11 spot. The single was also the third most popular digitally downloaded song this week, racking up 171,000 downloads.

Despite some skepticism about his country radio reception, the single also broke Country chart records by debuting at No. 32, which is the highest ranking ever for a new artist's first single. Scotty's single also topped the iTunes singles chart, with his "Idol" compilation album currently holding the No. 10 spot on iTunes as well. "Idol" runner-up Lauren Alaina's single "Like My Mother Does" debuted at No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100, and scored 121,000 downloads which pushed it to No. 11 on the Digital Songs chart.

Apple is notorious for employing zealous lawyers to go after anyone who they think may be infringing on one of their many patented products. Their latest target, though, is not a rival company but rather an Australian man who maintains an iTunes gift card blog.

Rowan Coe's site, iTunesonsale.com.au, tells people where they can buy discounted iTunes gift cards for your music player so that they can purchase music, apps and other content from iTunes at significant discounts. As the site's popularity rose, it caught Apple's attention and now they are seeking to shut it down. Mr. Coe has been surprised by this development, and continues to assert that he is simply driving revenue and customers to Apple. Yet this is not the first time that Apple has called in the lawyers to target Australian companies.
